  • I've always believed in buying from Canadian businesses. So the BAY was always my go to store for major appliances and furniture, always a good selection, pleasant staff and superb customer service. In fact I never even considered another store. The store is still nice though some of the friendliness has been replaced by an austere almost sterile environment. The selection is still good but buyer beware, it's now owned by an American company, old news. The reason I'm writing this review is because of an unpleasant experience I just had and by unpleasant, well I'm being generous. In 2015 I bought an lg refrigerator with an extended 4 year warranty (don't not buy it the quality these days has gone down and with all the new wow factor there's bound to be something that breaks down). The store end of the experience was frustrating partly because I didn't have all the specifics, i thought they'd be able to pull up my information, and getting to talk to someone took about twenty minutes. The twenty minutes was whittled down to getting a telephone number! So a little upset I called the number (a USA #) I had to talk to a person and give them all the information thinking that I was talking to the person that would take care of the situation and send a service person out. Well no! I was put through to another person, had to once again give them the details and by this time I was truly annoyed. The person I spoke with sounded like a robot with seemingly no intention of being nice and it was very difficult to hear him. I repeatedly had to repeat information spell everything out, you know the zed vs zee stuff. Was finally told that someone would call in 5 days to set up an appointment. Imagine if the appliance stoped working and with the fridge it's the compressor so it's might just tank out by then. There was no discussion just a take it or leave it tone. So my advice or personal experience, well I won't be shopping at the BAY anymore and I've spent thousands there. I'll be shopping at home hardware as my first choice then LOWES both are good at customer service and yes lowes is also American.
