| - Wish I could give negative stars!
I stayed at the Tropicana over the weekend and had my room broken into. All of my luggage, including my purse & wallet were taken, & I was left with nothing but the clothes on my back (Sadly I had pj's on) the hotel security was really helpful & also got the LVPD involved who are all trying to help recover the $10,000+ in property that was stollen from me. However, When I called the desk to be switched to another room, & after expressing my concern & discomfort in staying in a room I was robbed in, the "gentleman" on the phone told me it would be a $50 fee to upgrade & refused to switch my rooms unless i paid the fee. I reiterated the fact that my money & wallet were stolen and he didn't budge. He also told me he was the supervisor and refused to get someone above him to help me. I went to the desk personally to speak with him (in my pjs) and was completely embarassed and degraded by the situation. He still refused to help me, which is when I asked him to call security. The guy who showed up from security (joe I believe) was incredibly helpful and directed me to speak with someone else who did help me, thankfully. I spoke to a supervisor who did give me a food & beverage credit so I could at least eat after having no money, cards or id, which I did appreciate.
As much as I understand that the hotel never intends on having their guest's safety compromised, I am left completely disgusted by the handling of my situation, it was if this happens daily at the Tropicana, as know one seemed to care. .
Considering the extent of my issue, I would've expected the hotel's GM, and even the owners to be notified immediately. I've emailed the Tropicana and haven't even gotten a reply. I too work in the hospitality industry at a Starwood resort & the GM & owners of my property would've been involved & would have personally taken care of the problem if this had happened on their property. It's sad that a hotel who just put up $180 million in renovations is so unorganized, and has employees working for them who are curt, careless & obviously do not take pride in their work.
I literally had to walk around Vegas in my last day in my pajamas, since everything in my room was taken... You'd think they'd at least attempt to get me some pants and shoes!
Worst experience of my entire life. You couldn't pay me to stay here ever again! Im still hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel & really hope some action is taken, However the sentimental value of my belongings are forever gone. Truly a sad and life altering experience.
