We took this tour flavours of the main segment 1 with tour guide Louis from F and F Unacceptable is too kind a term.
Coming from Los Angeles with its ethnic neighborhoods we we were looking forward immensely to this tour. I do see that others have rated it favorably and do believe that with knowledgeable tour guide it could be a nice blend of the flavours that make Montreal unique both culturally and taste wise. However for this tour I would absolutely suggest you refuse to take it if he is the guide.
1- The guide neither has the passion for food or cultural history that makes the tour unique. On this tour it's not a matter of memorizing a script ( although the guide didn't even do that) it's about a love of the food and culture of Montreal.
2- The guide was totally unorganized ( the tour requires some planning) resulting in long waits while the guide " disappeared" and missing stops or tastes that should have been on the tour.
3- The guide was unprofessional both with his comments and with his interactions with tour members.
4 - THERE WERE MAJOR FOOD SAFETY HANDLING ISSUES on the tour enough so that ourselves and others skipped tastes, I do hope that no one on the tour got sick. if you'd been in a restaurant you would have walked out if you had noticed this type of food handling.
We travel extensively ..see other reviews , and this was our worst guide ever and it's not even close. I'd watch the reviews for this specific tour before taking it to be sure that professional organized knowledgeable and personable guides are now conducting this tour.
I did take the time to write a long detail memo to F and F with the hope that no future visitor has a similar experience. I did receive a prompt and considerate reply. However I still recommend that you look for future you reviews for this tour specifically before booking as even with out the food safety issues the tour with this guide was still unacceptable.
