| - Came here on a Sunday for Brunch twice, and I am a fan! If you like oysters, this is the place for you. My first time I came I ordered a nice spread of oysters from the East and West coast... I'm a fan of the oysters with more brine (keepin' it salty). I personally felt the more expensive the oyster the better it tasted. The cheaper oysters didn't taste bad though!
I've also had the chargrilled oysters and they have a nice garlic and butter taste.... Mmmmm Mmmm! The first reason I gave it a 4/5 was because my bread wasn't toasted/chargrilled with butter for the chargrilled oysters like the photos on Yelp. I think that would have actually added value because we just had a chunk of French bread. The oysters were delicious though.
I ordered the country breakfast (traditional style): Eggs (your way), Grits, Meat (Bacon/Sausage/etc), Bread (biscuits/toast/etc). It was tasty. Their grits are super cheesy and buttery - yes, yes, yes! They were almost like my mom used to make them back in the day. My husband ordered the fried chicken and biscuits, and that was pretty tasty too.
If you like a good Bloody Mary Bar I believe that is their signature cocktail for brunch. They even have a mix of infusions to change up the base vodka flavor (and you can try it with tequila). I am not a fan of them unless I have a hangover (don't judge! I've been good lately). I noticed a lot of other tables ordered them so it must be decent.
The second reason I gave it a 4/5 is their mimosas are just "ok". I'd give the mimosa a 3 out of 5. I prefer my mimosa to have a glass of champagne and a splash of orange juice to still be able to taste the fizz of the champagne. It shouldn't be opaque dark orange. They're personally put too much orange juice for me (the ratio of orange juice to champagne just didn't hit the spot) and I don't believe the orange juice was fresh squeezed. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I went down the street to another bar and had a fresh squeeze orange juice mimosa and almost squealed with delight. Anywho... Back to Muddy Waters Oyster Bar... They measure the champagne in a beaker first and then put the orange juice in. Next time, I'm going to ask for a glass of champagne and ask for a shot of OJ instead. I hope they improve the process because I love brunch and a good mimosa is a part of it.
The venue is a bit small, so definitely make reservations... Since you can do it online, why wouldn't you? We made reservations in route just to make sure we were going to get a seat, but we ended up eating at the bar to get a view of the TV to watch football. I'm going to have to come back for Happy Hour!
