I had high hopes for this place, the east side needs decent Mexican food, the decor is cute enough, the prices are right and the staff seem really friendly. I don't mind cheap food & kids running around, it seemed homey & familiar to me, atmosphere & menu wise. Unfortunately the food is just not right - greasy, poor quality, flavorless or off-tasting. Bad texture beans and rice in a Mexican joint means something is seriously not working. Flat tasting bland and odd tasting salsa is incredibly off putting too. There are some significant freshness issues as well that go beyond blah and into yikes territory - an inedible funky / rank shrimp dish, wrong-tasting beans, tummy-aches later, yuck.
