| - We were in Vegas to celebrate two birthdays and were sad to hear that our usual birthday stop was not open for the season. So the steak lover in our group made reservations for Hugo's. My daughter, who is such a romantic though she doesn't realize it, fell in love with Hugo's the minute they presented all the women in our group with a rose. Then, she was in heaven when on the menu was the caesar salad (her favorite salad) prepared "table-side", somewhat of a dying art where we live, as far as I know.
This is an old-fashioned (in a good sense) steakhouse that is so elegant, yet not stuffy thanks to the friendly staff and a knowledgeable sommelier with a great sense of humor. They have your standard steak selections that you expect from great steakhouses, in addition to delicious fish, chicken, duck, and lamb choices. Their rack of lamb is served with an Indonesian sauce . . . . But not to worry, they also can serve it with mint jelly! Phew! Their beef wellington is delicious (tasted my husband's). To top off the dining experience, we were presented with a splendid platter of chocolate dipped fruit. Now we have two favorite steakhouses that we need to visit when we are in Vegas!
The only thing that I missed was that crust that some places have on their steaks. Oh, and for "old eyes" you may need to use your phone's light to read the menu because it is a little dark--can't give up the ambience just to accommodate us old people.
