| - I stayed here for three nights. The room was almost OK except to an odd smoky smell, not fresh at all, maybe that's a Vegas thing. I was here for a conference which was ruined by two main things.
FIRST: The conference rooms were so cold it was impossible to concentrate on the important content that was being discussed. OK, I should have brought a jacket, but considering it was 105 degrees in Vegas I didn't think I would need one. The banquet staff was asked repeatedly to raise the temperature to a reasonable level with no result or even an explanation.
SECOND: And this is the big one. at least eight of the people, me included, in our group came down with food poisoning after eating the dinner service on the second night. Stomach cramps, shivers, sweats, headaches, diarrhea. All the things you could hope for with a nice case of food poisoning. After talking to the catering manager and their "risk management" department it seems they couldn't have cared less. A couple of I'm sorrys and we'll look into it, no follow-up, no offers to comp our rooms, which I wasn't looking for, just no caring.
So, if you are looking for a decent place to stay or have an event in Las Vegas, pass the Westgate Resort by is my advise.
