| - PLEASE DO NOT rent from this complex!!!
Originally, I was supposed to have moved into a 1-Bedroom apartment which I had reserved on Friday August 12th 2016. Micheal had helped find that apartment & had said that the tenant will be moving out on Wednesday, but there may be a chance he/she could move out earlier. I returned to the Leasing Office that Tuesday to see if, by chance the tenant will be moving out earlier or not, but to no avail.
From here is where all of the nightmare & hell was soon to begin.
Micheal was not there the next day, but there were three other sales representatives and the Assistant Manager.
As soon as I told them which apartment I was there about & that I will be moving into it on Friday, they all told me REPEATEDLY that this unit will NOT be ready because it has to be cleaned. Apparently, it takes almost one week for them to get a unit ready & that is according to all of them........that was what the kept telling me. Another thing I kept hearing was that both Micheal & I were "too Gung Ho" about moving me into that unit!
So Will, one of the sales representatives, looked to see what units were available & showed them to me.
There was one I really liked. They all assured & reassured me that this unit HAD:
1). been cleaned
2). the tub, which had 3 long cracks, had been resurfaced
3). the unit had been exterminated for bugs
4). everything was in working condition.
Well, with me being new to town & this being my first time renting an apartment, I had no idea that I shouldn't have gone on a walk-thru when the electricity was turned off in the unit.........when the lights were turned off.
To boot, the walk-thru was with the Assistant Manager. When we entered the unit, the was natural light in the kitchen, living room & bedroom, but not at all In the bathroom. The tub area on the left hand side was pitch dark. But, I took their word in good faith,signed the lease & moved in Wednesday August 10th, 2016.
Later that evening when my lights were turned on, I toured around the apartment & I was disgusted!!!!!
The unit was NEVER cleaned!!! The tub was NEVER resurfaced! There was a bunch of long, dried hair stuck on top of the drain & there were black mold stains in the grout in between the tiles and other stains in numerous places! Enough to make me throw up!
The toilet boil had a black ring around it.
I went to tell them about these as soon as I discovered it.
The denied ALL of the above! I kept wanting, them to come & kept asking & insisting, AT LEAST, that they come take a look to see what I am talking about. None of them ever came!
Needless to say, I went & bought all kinds of cleaning supplies to come back & clean the place.
The unit was NEVER exterminated for bugs because as I was cleaning the parquet floor in the kitchen & hallway, I began seeing A LOT OF ANTS ALL OVER the floors, walls, doors & my bedroom furniture I had put out! I had to get a spray to kill them until my last day there!
After the representative from SW Gas came to turn on the gas in my unit, we discovered that the fireplace pilot does not work properly. Two days afterwards when the Maintenance people from Avondale Apartments came, they COULD NOT even get the fireplace pilot to turn on! Maintenance also told me that they would tell one of the cleaning crew to come here to clean & they would call the pest control company to exterminate my unit. That was the end of that!
Day after day & several times a day, I kept going back to see if they can send someone from their cleaning crew & also to have an exterminator come to exterminate my apartment, but I only kept getting lip service. I asked them if because of these extenuating circumstances, I could transfer to another unit. They kept giving me one excuse after another. Especially, that they cannot make any decisions without their "Manager's approval". They are great at that!
Because I was not going to touch the filthy tub to clean it, nor even if it were to be cleaned I still would not have stepped foot into that tub, I had to join a gym to take showers. The only person who was most helpful there was Leeza. She tried to help out the best she could & I am grateful that she was there. That Friday when I was gone. They sent someone from their cleaning crew to supposedly "clean" my tub. The only thing they did were to remove the hair & clean the tub, but there is still dirt that is stuck to/on the walls that have not been removed.
All the while, their Manager has been on vacation & this was the excuse I continuously heard as the reason that they cold not follow thru on any decision making because they needed the "Manager's approval". I knew there was an "On-Call Manager" who was filling in, but she was never present when I was there.
This is definitely not what I was expecting to receive for $1,095-/month!!
It was that weekend that I decided I will be moving from there because I had had more than enough w/ their incompetence!
