  • My experiences here have all been pretty weird. I'm fairly laid back so luckily no harm done but I can't imagine other moms would be happy with experiences like these. 6 Weeks = My doctor sent me for a 6 week ultrasound. When I asked why, she said specifically "this is when you hear the heartbeat". At the 6 week ultrasound, the tech wouldn't show me the screen, wouldn't print any pictures, and wouldn't let me hear the heartbeat. She said "there's nothing to see". In addition to that being a bit scary (soo, am I not pregnant??), I had to look at all the other moms' pictures of their little "beans" and I had nothing. I told my doctor about that and she said this is very unusual and weird. I should have heard the heartbeat and I should have gotten a photo. 12 Weeks = this one went well. My husband and I got to finally see our baby and the ultrasound tech (a different one from week 6) was very pleasant and knowledgeable. 20 Weeks = This was the weirdest. I had the same tech from week 12 and I was glad. I was having two ultrasounds at once (one for baby and one for something else) and the staff at the front forgot to attach my second requisition to the first one. I realized about an hour in that she may not realize I am having a second one and starting deciding I would need to ask. However, before I had a chance, someone apparently found it at the front desk and walked the halls yelling my name trying to find me. That's pretty sloppy. The tech was again very lovely and thorough and told us she thought she knew what the sex was, with the caveat that ultrasounds are never 100%. She wrote down in an envelope that we were having a girl. Five days later, my OB calls with the results and, after looking at the report, tells me we are having a boy. We are super confused. My OB sends a note to the lab to ask them to recheck, and they had made some sort of clerical error on the report and had written male instead of female. It took us 7 weeks and paying for a 3D ultrasound elsewhere to confirm that we are, in fact, having a girl. I know it's not a huge deal but a clerical error like that is pretty unacceptable; are they that careless when filling in the other parts of the report? Anyway, the in-person experience was fairly pleasant but my experiences overall point to carelessness and disorganization, which can sometimes be very important. I would recommend going elsewhere, truthfully.
