On the second Saturday of spring training, we came to the Peoria Sports Complex to watch the Indians take on the Padres. The weather was a perfect sunny and 70 with a cooling 5 mph breeze. I wasn't that surprised that the Tribe blew a late inning lead but my wife and I still enjoyed three hours of gloves popping and bats cracking taking in America's pastime.
Aside from the facility being used during the month of March for spring training, the 145 acre complex hosts various minor league baseball, other sporting events, concerts, and expos. There are about a dozen baseball practice fields also located on property.
For baseball, the stadium has capacity of about 12,000. Plenty of affordable tickets $7 and up were available through MLB.com or at the ticket gate. Parking was $5 and we had no difficulty entering or leaving. The stands are close to the field and you can see and hear almost everything. It seemed that almost all of the seats behind home plate were shaded for the entirety of the game. I do wish they had a jugs gun display on the scoreboard because Salazar from the Indians was throwing some gas and it would have been nice to see how hard he was actually throwing.
Food is plentiful with an AYCE deck available if you're really hungry. If you choose not to purchase any food there, you can bring in a small cooler with food and bottled water only beverage. Four Peaks, Elysian, and Hangar breweries are each featured in different stands. Prices are typical of any other major league park including $8 domestic from the vendors.
