After moving to Pittsburgh almost a year ago, I decided it was finally time to check out a Pittsburgh institution and go to brunch at Pamela's. At the server's recommendation, I got the strawberry hotcakes (with fresh strawberries) and Lyonnaise potatoes. Yum. I was a little confused about why they call these "hotcakes" when they seemed more crepe-y to me - but very tasty nonetheless. The potatoes were crispy and superb. This is not a breakfast to have daily (or even weekly, probably) if you're watching your sodium or fat intake but it was certainly a great diner meal. At $7.50 for the strawberry hotcakes and $3.00 for the potatoes, I thought it was just a tad pricey for a place that doesn't have real maple syrup. That being said, the next time my dad visits, I'm bringing him there. I know he'll love it.
