| - Located in an unassuming strip mall not far from ASU, Sleepy Dog's taproom is a functional and friendly space to sample their beers. Something about their labels speaks to their relative young age, but they've had enough time to refine their core lineup and still offer some more outlandish beers for those willing to explore. Surprisingly, I found their flagship Irish ale to be among the worst of the bunch, though the sour notes I tasted might have just been a bad batch, judging from the descriptions I've read online. I wasn't a fan of the adjunct lager, either, but I understand that I wasn't the target market for that. On the plus side, the milk stout is nice, I liked the winter warmer, and the peanut butter porter was fun to try, too. I would say the beer itself is strictly in the 3-star range, but factoring in the atmosphere and the people working, and it adds to the experience. Obligatory statement about them serving food soon.
