  • I love the range of atmospheres you get on different days. On a slow weeknight, you might have bartenders dressed in flannel, playing Morrissey on the turntable. On weekends, you'll have folks dressed to the nines while big band plays, bustling about as they sling carefully crafted cocktails to a packed house. If you've read my reviews before, you know I like to keep the company of bartenders. I love watching the combination of speed and precision, the slight technique variations, and of course the education. That's what I feel like I get when I visit Tender -- an education in how flavors might unexpectedly combine, and how to do it myself as well. The bartenders are welcoming and assuming the place isn't totally packed, happy to shoot the breeze with you about the background of a drink, or a spirit, or talk personal preference. For a budding cocktail enthusiast, it's a great environment. The "kitchen" part of Tender Bar & Kitchen is clearly secondary to the cocktails, but the small bites they serve are always satisfying.
