  • Hubby and I traveled to town to pick up our son from an activity at ASU. It's too hot to do an outdoor activity so we opted to go gamble. We live in Vegas. So yes there is the craziness that we travel to Az to gamble. But we did. We had time to kill. The casino itself if clean, nice, safe. Easy to park. Even coming from Vegas walking through these doors the smoke really hit us. But became acclimated after a while. We got our players cards. Learned that if we wanted anything but a soda there is a charge (what?!?) And off to play. We often play tables in Vegas. We are used to playing more than the table minimum for whatever the game is and then dropping smaller bets on the side bets (like $1-$3). But you can't do that here. Even the Progressive bets are the table minimum. That's absurd. I will continually toss a dollar down on a Progressive and never give it a second thought. But because I had to toss $5 I never made the bet. And sadly they lost out. Hubby continued to play tables I went to slots. When it was time to go...I took my cash ticket to the machine behind me to cash it in. Firstly despite I was cashing in well over hundred dollars the machine only spits out $20 bills (I'm not used to that- I'm used to getting $100 bill). Secondly it spit me out paper with the remaining change on it. What? It doesn't give change? Now that is ridiculous. I guess they assume most people wouldn't waste time going to the Cage for anything less than $1.00. So when you add that up over the hundreds of people at the slots.....yeah that's a lot of money. I did go to the Cage. Gave her my ticket to cash for change. Gave my stack of $20's and asked for a larger bill. Overall we had fun. We killed time and stayed cool. We broke fairly even. If in the same situation again might stop by. But in all honesty it's not like playing in Vegas.
