  • 2.5 stars: check-in process was rushed (but I did stay here on one of their busiest weekends of the year and it was 100% fully booked) and I almost didn't get a parking pass. Got my Doubletree cookie though! The staff were polite and courteous though. I was told they had no fridges available, when I has specifically requested one in the room when I booked. The beds were comfortable and there was a nice flat screen LG tv (which incidentally I never turned on all weekend) but the rooms are definitely dated. There are 4 pillows on each double bed, with 2 extra in the closet but no extra duvets. Fold-up cots are available from the front desk on request (subject to availability, and possibly a fee?). The overall decor of the room is dated and starting to look a bit worn, especially if you look at the ceiling. There is industrial fluorescent lighting in the bathroom (not ideal). Also, the placement of the shower head is ridiculous! It was aimed below the nape of my neck (and I'm 5'8") - so it was installed with someone 4'5" tall in mind?! One of my friends who is 6'2" had to squat in the bathtub to wash his hair. However, the Crabtree & Evelyn amenities were nice. Our bathroom had drainage problems in sink & toilet. When we got around to phoning the front desk about it at 11:30pm we were told someone would come right up... by 1am no one had shown up (and my roommate and I wanted to go to sleep!) so we phoned the front desk again. We were informed that there was no maintenance staff on duty at this hour, that they could send someone up with a plunger but we would have to take care of it ourselves!! There is a very sensitive thermostat- it got either too hot or too cold quickly but was impossible to get the temperature to stay at something comfortable. There is complimentary wifi, but it was not working both nights I stayed. The pool (and waterslide) are accessed through the main lobby and anyone walking by can see you in there. My friends went in for a dip at 5-6am and the hot tub was COLD. The Grand Chinese Cuisine restaurant is excellent (but a bit pricey). There is a hotel shuttle to Pearson International Airport, and a bus stop right outside the hotel where the TTC and GO buses stop. It is also located directly in front of the Toronto Congress Centre.
