We made another trip to Beauregard to try the "Boil" on Saturday night. Our jaw almost hit the floor when they delivered a HUGH platter of seafood, potatoes, and corn. This is enough food for four normal people. My friend and I split it and I don't think we ate half of it. We each took home a to-go box that must have weight 5 to 7 pounds each. I've been eating the crab claws and shrimp for three days. And it's still very good.
The platter is mostly seafood with some sausage, and a few new potatoes and two ears of corn. The majority of the seafood is medium sized shrimp and crab claws. On top of it all is a fresh cooked lobster for you to crack open and dip in butter. It's all very good. Everything in the boil is cooked outside on the patio in gas fired cook pots. The corn was kind of spicy from the spices in the boil. I'd recommend trying the boil. The $39 boil is pretty cheap considering how much food you get.
If you might be turned off about seeing the lobsters put into the boiling pots don't sit down near them. They are on the far end of the patio, away from the door. Be sure to let the people that would be upset sit facing away from the cooking area. My wife was freaked out by the whole process. Don't get me wrong they aren't making a big show of doing the cooking that you just can't miss. But if you look you can see the cook pulling the lobsters out and carrying them over to the pots.
My wife tried the grilled snapper ($25) and she didn't really like it. She thought it was kind of boring. Not much flavor. But she is really hard to please serving her fish. She only likes it if it's highly flavored with something. So the fish might be better for most people than she said it was.
As good as the boiled platter was I really think the fried seafood platter was the best dish I've had here. It's more than enough food for two people. And at $24 it's a bargin meal for two.
