| - I was visiting Vegas for an annual convention I attend and this year I wanted to get a tattoo (my first ever). I'd done my research, picked out my top pick (Black Spade) and 2nd pick (another highly ranked place here on Yelp) and then due to time limitations with the conference contacted the 2nd pick due to their after hours availability. To sum it up, they weren't able to help me get my idea in a small enough size to suit my desire, so I contacted Black Spade and talked with Chris. I came by, showed him the image of what I wanted and he said he it could be done so I made an appointment for the next day.
Came back, nervous, but Chris put me to ease really quickly. The place was extremely clean, welcoming and had an open, friendly vibe to it that really appealed to me. Chris sketched out the image I wanted, was patient when I teased him and made him grab his ruler (to ensure it didn't go past the sizing I was comfortable with) and then got started.
- King Ruck looked over at one point and asked me what game it was from. (As a gamer, I loved that, that he recognized the iconic item!)
Chris was careful in his work (especially since I had it done on my wrist, a sensitive area I'm told though his skill was such that it didn't feel painful like I expected). Being my first, he made sure to carefully show me how to clean it, keep it moist and what to do for the immediate future until it healed.
I've heard it said that once you get your first tattoo, you want more and sitting in that chair I can tell you it's true. I was already trying to figure out what I wanted next and when the convention hits Vegas next year, I already know I'm going to go back to Chris and ask for more. Maybe this will become a yearly thing now.
Regardless, Chris was extremely professional, competent, skilled, artistic and someone I would highly recommend you go to, whether you're an old pro or contemplating your first tattoo.
