| - I have a ton of good to say about the maternity ward, wonderful nurses and doctors!
But, I am very disappointed in the billing experience!
First, my son was almost a year old before I got the physicians bill. I called to set up a payment arrangement and paid on time for the duration of the arrangement. The last bill was for $102, assuming that would be the last bill. NO NO NO! 3+ months later (about 3 weeks ago) I receive another bill for $123. I called to get some answers but instead got crummy customer service. I haven't been able to pay yet because of financial hardship. Today, I received a collection notice for $50, even though I had never gotten an overdue notice from the hospital first, which is supposed to be the process of collections.
THEN, after my son turned a year old, I finally got the bill for the hospital services. Again, set up a payment arrangement and was able to pay the first 2 months but, called to let them know that I was having a hard time making this last month's payment so they said my payment arrangement would go into default and most likely cancelled. I asked that they send me the financial assistance forms that could possibly help me with some of the balance.
I guess they have to get their money before I'm approved for financial assistance so, they skip protocol and go straight to collections!
Come to find out, recently they have cut ties with HealthNet (which so happened to be our insurance provider at the time of service) because they can't agree on how to give/get money so, I guess that's why they can make up invoices as they go. St. Joseph's must be hurting for money.
