| - From LAS I've flown to SFO, ORD, CLE, CAK, PIT, and MCO on Frontier logging around 30K in miles. I think that's a good enough sample size to say that they are OK. They have the two most important characteristics I look for and that's competitive pricing (the most expensive of all the above tickets was $296) and reliability (I'm knocking incessantly on some nearby wood right now).
Some positives that keep me flying with them are that out of all the flights, there have been no cancels and one thirty minute delay for which I was promptly emailed a $30 voucher the day after I arrived home. I've never encountered any problems with employees on the phone or in person. Frontier flies non stop to almost all of the cities I listed, which is a very nice convenience. And finally, Frontier flies out of Terminal 3, which is easily the terminal of my preference.
On the down side, there's no doubt they will nickel and dime you for seat selection, carry on bags, checked bags, beverages, and snacks so plan accordingly. No other airline comes even close to Frontier as having the most uncomfortable seats. They are a plastic material, they are hard, and they don't recline. To top it off, there's no leg room. I can't count the number of times I've been kicked in the legs by the person behind me because their legs reached me when they straightened them under the seat. Frontier does that on purpose hoping you'll give in and pay for your seat. I've had some of the most agonizing, miserable flights on Frontier, but it's something I'm willing to endure if the price is right.
In the end, if you can pack everything in your "personal item" and if you can sacrifice comfort for a couple hours, you'll be flying on an airline with the cheapest tickets and will get you to your destination on time.
