| - True Rest is truly amazing, and I can be quite a skeptic of things that are a little "out there" and not mainstream. I had floated a few times before my knee replacement surgery in May 2014. I heard that floating could help my new knee heal more quickly with the magnesium salt soaks and I knew that the meditation during the hour floats is good for the mind. So, when my incision healed, I scheduled 3 floats a week for about a month. In the interest of full disclosure, I do contract with True Rest to wash their linens. I had banked some of the floats I received for floating so I could try this out to see if it would help my knee. I know floating isn't cheap, but after my experience with my knee, floating is definitely time and money well spent.
My physical therapist asked on several occasions why I was doing so well, just 2 months after surgery. I told him that along with physical therapy and some massage, I was also floating. I had to explain floating to him. He said to keep it up.
When I went to my surgeon, Dr. La Cognata, for my 3 month checkup, he was also amazed at how well I was doing. I told him about True Rest and floating.
How did it help? I don't know the science behind it, but I know magnesium salt is awesome for the body! Taking that hour to relax and soak up the benefits of the magnesium salt sure can't hurt the body. Floating is what you make of it. If you don't trust the experience and go in with this feeling that it's a waste of time and money, it could very well feel exactly like that to you. If you trust that it is time and money well spent, and if you get out of your own analytical head and listen to your body (something that is very difficult for me), then your body will tell you how awesome it is!
