| - No. I don't think I'll be coming back here, even though it is located in beautiful Mount Charleston. I would rather pay the extra couple of bucks and stay in a private cabin than stay in this very confusing...old but new...70's, 80's, 90's OH and don't forget the 40's and 50's - atmosphere. I'm all for renewing something old to make it a classic piece but this place just reminded me of my aunt - who's a HOARDER.
As we walked up I was SO excited. It's gorgeous! A beautiful pond with a couple of tables and chairs to enjoy in the morning with your coffee or tea, beautiful wood work everywhere, the doors were gorgeous...but as soon as I walked in...I didn't know if I had walked into the set for "THE SHINING". The carpet is old and dilapidated, but then their are pricey sculptures everywhere...it seems as though someone does not understand the importance of up - keep. It doesn't matter how many pearls you put on a pile of crap...underneath it is STILL, a pile of crap.
Upon checking in we were asked to sign a paper promising that we "Would not bring any alcohol into the resort." AHhhhhh, I see what you did there. You don't want me to bring my own alcohol so that you can charge me $10 for a bud light. No. No...a thousand times no. Who thought of this rule!?? It's quiet possibly the dumbest business decision I've ever seen!
There was a TINY little staircase that we had to walk up to get to our room. Quite frankly, it was scary. This is not a place I would want to wander around alone. Not safe for kids. Not to mention it's got this tiny little closet in the wall at the top of the first set of stairs...wonder if that's where Dobby lives...
Our room was alright, the mattress was really hard and everything in our room needed to be updated - 20 years ago! The bathroom was terrifying! There were these miniature white tiles all over the floor with black grout in between each tile. The shower needed to be renovated, the nozzle was coming OUT of the wall!
Here's a confusing part for you...take 30 year old carpet with musty smells and tread marks and the most gorgeous walls you've ever seen...there's your "resort.
This resort is like a woman who is gorgeous on the outside and hideous on the inside. At the end of the night, I'm staying on the inside sooooo.....ya.
OH and if you're looking for WIFI. Steer clear.
