| - Came here for a date night during restaurant week. We had 8pm reservations on a Saturday but didn't ended up getting food until 9pm so be prepared if you come on Saturday night. The waiter forgot about us for a while, when he went to check what desserts were still available for restaurant week, he came back like it was us that took forever to decide. Although he was nice and was able to substitute the preset apps for mussels since they were out of all but the onion soup. Same for the dessert.
Apps-
Onion soup gratinee, traditional onion soup with bubbling gruyere
Moules marinieres and frites- mussels
Entree-
Crispy confit duck leg, flageolet bean cassoulet, smoked bing cherries, blistered
tomatoes, roasted hazelnut and pepita granola, olive bordelaise
Braised Wagyu beef cheeks, grilled sweetbreads, roasted artichokes, mirepoix, candied
tomato, Jus de Viande
Dessert-
Rhubarb semifreddo, lemon poundcake croutons, vanilla bean and matcha tea anglaise, strawberry compote
Creme Brulee
The onion soup was such a disappointment, it smelled particular and not appetizing. It was too salty and the cheese just added to that; it had little to no onion flavor. The mussels were the highlight of the night. The broth was rich and flavorful and the mussels were fresh and cooked perfectly.
I would not classify the duck leg as crispy- I was hoping for peking duck crispy- it was separated from the fat but didn't have that satisfying crunch. It too was way too salty and hid any flavor of duck. The granola did give it the sweetness I craved for, but it still couldn't be saved. The beef cheeks were very tender, but the sauce was not to my tasting. The vegetables were the saving grace of the dish.
The desserts were good, the semifreddo was interesting and a refreshing end to the meal.
A good attempt, but not really worth the $100+ bill.
