| - Hoppin' is one of the places I've been most excited to open in Charlotte. After experiencing PizzaRev-Taproom in Nashville, I knew it was a must to have a place in Charlotte where patrons could pour beer from a tap all by themselves.
Being that it just recently opened, I've heard a mix of good/bad reviews so far. After having my first experience on a Friday night, I honestly have no idea why you wouldn't enjoy this place.
The process: You walk in, you give the dude your credit card to start your "tab." He gives you a wristband that you'll use to keep track of how much beer you've poured. That's pretty much it! There's a ton of different beers that are available so there is 100% something for everyone. They've also got a wine and cider selection if you're feeling fancy. After you're done and ready to leave, you get your wristband scanned and pay your tab. If you want to fast-track it, you can throw your wristband in a jar and they'll close your tab for you and just take 15% for a tip! SUPER SIMPLE.
It's a pretty nice space they've got. It's super open and definitely has a very modern feel to it. That being said, there is a lot of noises, especially with the live music but if you're cool with that, you'll be happy with the layout. There are a bunch of high tops and tables on the bottom level, and a way more loungey area on the second level for more chilling. The outside is a little small but nice and I'm sure it's going to be packed AF once it gets warmer.
Prices are pretty comparable to what you'll find elsewhere and the major plus is you don't have to wait on drinks yourself! No one in my group hit their pour limit while we were there, but I'm sure they've got an easy process to reset your wristband once you hit your limit.
If you're wanting to grab a beer/beers and trying to please a wide variety of tastes, Hoppin' will be a good bet for you. That, combined with a pretty unique space, will make it a fun time for whoever ends up coming.
