  • If you are into a hearty breakfast, and you also enjoy being told "Ask us about our beers" as you are seated, you must consider Hash House in the Plaza Casino for breakfast or brunch. My experience here was based on this, and I left completely satisfied and beyond full. If you're a party of 6 or more, you may have problems getting a table, so do consider the bar, especially if you want a beer. The selection is varied, the bartender knowledgeable. Obviously with a name like Hash House, the lure - and the top items on the menu - will be the hashes. These are huge, served in iron skillet-pans. They aren't your traditional hashes with the meats and potatoes nicely cut into small cubes. This is more like pulled meat with whatever else is included, on top of a pile of home fries, usually with 2 eggs and a jumbo biscuit with a large sprig of rosemary growing out of it for garnish and optional flavor. One person in our group opted for pancakes instead, and he was told not to order quite as many as he wanted - and rightly so. The pancakes were larger than the plate, probably larger than a Frisbee. The price of breakfast here, not counting coffee, was perhaps a few bucks more than a breakfast buffet at one of the better hotels on Fremont St., but I left here equally full and more satisfied in terms of quality. If I had to label anything in the area as "best hangover brunch," a hash breakfast here would win.
