| - We were in Charlotte just for the night and don't know the area well. I found the Cotton Room on a yelp search for cocktails and it really delivered. We both started with the Paloma, a tequila and grapefruit cocktail that was tasty and refreshing, with just the right balance of booze, juice and flavors. I then had a Blackbird, a jalapeƱo, berry, mezcal cocktail that was excellent! (Both were) again the right balance of strong and subtle flavors. My man had the Wild Thyme, a mixture of vodka, berries,
Bitters and thyme that was really nice. All 3 drinks were 5/5 stars. Granted the drinks aren't cheap , but the portions are generous and we felt they were worth the price .
Additionally we loved the quiet, low key vibe. The brick walls, laid back, not trying too hard, local bar vibe as well as the music play list.
The bar tended who made our drinks wasn't social at all, bordering on shy, which was a little surprising in such a small place (maybe seats 25? A tiny place), but we are from Boston so we are used to it.
Finally we watched a smoked cinnamon cocktails being prepared with a blow torch and were intrigued. The owner seemed friendly and fun.
If we ever get back to Charlotte, this will be our first place on the list to go for drinks!
