I give the Library an A+, the staff and the amenities for children is absolutely wonderful. However the crime right by the library is astonishing, A man who attended Bow Valley College was stabbed fatally right in front of the library on the C train platform June 2017, another stabbing of two people a block away from the library occurred five days later. In 2016 the police did a raid in front of the Library arresting all the drug dealers selling drugs. When I was at the library on the second floor in the children's area two suspicious men went off in a corner, they had no children) and it looked like they were about to conduct a drug deal. I Stared these men down, then reported them. As soon as they saw me reporting them they ran to the exit. Being new to the city, I did not know the history of the drug issues at the library. Since more families are going to see the fire truck less seedy people have been noted being in the library. However with the the stabbings and continued drug dealers hanging by the doors of the library I will not be returning due to safety concerns. I feel they need a security guard in the children's department because Seedy characters still come up to the children's area and pose a safety concern. Although the library is wonderful the location is not safe. I will not be returning.
