Going to save you a LOT of time! Don't go to Africa first! The way they have it laid out you can waste a lot of time there when the music is rudimentary at best and they show a zillion subcultures who are largely distinguished by the shape of the drum or flute. Start with the US of A and work your way around the other direction. You really are more interested in the Taylor Swift and Elvis exhibits anyway if you have kids (so you can tell them "No, Elvis was more popular than Taylor swift and well, better until the drugs and...Ok skip that last part). As a classical musician I loved the European areas and the section on classical symphonies, pianos, etc. But we didn't have as much time there as we wanted because we walked through the bongo's for a half hour first....It was like looking at cave drawings at the expense of Picassos. One or two cave drawings is enough...
