I just switched to another listing agent from Don Anthony. I wanted to believe in his model because this industry needs to change but...
-Don's company is a bunch of arm chair quarterbacks who write emails. Long emails that violate every common technique on effective email writing. 10+ paragraphs with links, etc.. All of this to avoid a live conversation.
-Most of the email content when responding to inquiring buyer agents is actually written by the customer, not Don. I had a few emails go across that he later told me should have been revised but never reviewed prior. Really? For all of that time spend emailing, you can't review a response to an interested buyer's agent?
-I think someone should take legal action against his company for charging the $499 upfront. I don't think this is legal for what services you get in return. When I break it all down, the customer (me) was doing all the work. I am happy to join a class action suit if anyone is interested in taking the lead
-If you have a home over $500k, don't list with Don. There are services people want included in selling homes at this price that he knows they need. Especially when showing feedback clearly shows why this is needed. Don't just puts his head in the sand
-The worst and most revealing is Don blames everything on the customer. Price, house changes, etc.. Every excuse in the book to not point the finger back on himself. This is a character issue and he will ultimately fail
-Bottom line is other full-service agents are bringing their listing commissions down to a point where the trade-off isn't worth it. PLEASE ask a listing agent what they would do for you and the switch from Don will be easy. You will sleep easier at night
