| - A few years ago, I wrote an article for the Charlotte Observer about where to take family and friends visiting from out of town and high on my list was the Common Market.
It's a cool little neighborhood place filled to the brim with lovely beers, wines, juices and sodas, as well as sandwiches & food (from their own deli), interesting munchies and a bevy of novelty candies, toys and merch. I love the patio - it's gone through some major changes since the beginning, some of which has made it more difficult to hang out back there, but I dig it nonetheless. It can be a little dirty sometimes, but that comes with the territory when you have many people coming and going all day... even though I think the customers should clean up after themselves out of respect for who might be sitting there next....
Keeping me from giving the full five-star treatment is something that is not really the CM's fault. Sometimes I don't really want to go there because of how crowded and noisy the place can be with people wearing fake glasses and tight jeans. I never know when the right time to go is. You might think its safe to go on a Monday night, and you get there and find it's so damn crowded that you can't continue with your mellow hangout plans. C'est la vie!
But still, I love the Common Market!
