  • Who goes to visit a friend out of town and ends up Yelping about a supermarket later? This girl. I was so impressed by the Giant Eagle in Market District that it couldn't go without mention. My friend was taking his time picking out some desserts so I got a good chance to explore the entire store. The cheese section really stands out as a winner in my mind. They carry such a huge variety and breadth of different cheeses. I probably could have hung out in the cheese section for an hour just browsing the different products. I was also impressed by their beer section. Sure, I'm a former Jersey girl living in Philly and beer in a supermarket is generally impressive to me. However I really liked the build your own 6 pack for $12.99 concept. Unfortunately we were there after beer hours and I couldn't pick my own, but one could only hope that any beer in that section counts towards the deal. The variety was pretty decent. Overall, the store just seemed clean and well stocked. Without shopping during peak traffic hours and without doing a full price analysis I can't give it a 5, however all other factors considered this store was pretty darn impressive.
