  • When Avengers first arrived at Treasure Island several months ago, my husband and I (both locals and Marvel fans) were very excited to check it out! The only thing that stopped us was the exorbitant pricing (even with the plethora of special offers available on several websites, we were looking at spending close to $50 for this one-hour excursion). However, we recently stayed at Treasure Island for a stay-cation and got in "free" (though we ended up spending $10 in "fees"). For those of you with limited time, let me just summarize this review by saying this: This attraction is NOT even worth the $10 we paid, and honestly, I wish I could get that money back. (1) You are paying to look at replicas of the clothing and items seen in the movie (2) There is so much text to read that it's extremely overwhelming and (3) The staff members (by no fault of their own) are paid to be as obnoxious and loud as possible. The amount of times we were actually SCREAMED AT by employees (in the final battle with Ultron especially) was frightening. There were several times that both my husband and I just wanted to get out of the Station altogether. We should've known this was going to be a less than thrilling experience when we arrived at the first checkpoint (after you've paid and where you get your welcome to the Station). The employee talked us through the experience (with an overly detailed orientation on how to use our handheld devices) for almost TWENTY MINUTES. I'm sorry, but there is no need for a 20 minute explanation of what I'm going to see and how I should be reacting to it. Give me a brief overview and GET ME IN THERE. Once we FINALLY were allowed to enter the attraction, we were both overwhelmed by the sheer walls of text in every room. Sure, it was exciting to sit on Captain America's actual motorcycle, and my husband enjoyed the photo op with Thor's hammar. However, that was the ONLY time we had any fun. This experience is not very interactive AT ALL, and the few "games" are clearly broken (especially the Iron Man game that requires you to shoot at targets with your eyes) or rigged. My #1 complaint is with the staff. I know they are only doing what they've been trained to do, but it was extremely frustrating listening to a 20 minute orientation, being yelled at to "GO GO GO SHOOT SHOOT" in the Ultron experience, and being paraded through worthless instructions in the rigged Iron Man game. My #2 complaint is with the experience itself. How in the world is reading texts and staring at replicas of costumes INTERACTIVE? There's no way. Honestly, I don't recommend this for families because your kids will be extremely bored, and I don't recommend this for adults because you will be treated like an overgrown child. You would have way more fun just renting the movies and then reading about them on Wikipedia. I think the only people that would enjoy this would be SUPER SUPER fans of the franchise. Disappointing in every sense of the word.
