After months on end of squinting my eyes to see. I"d decided to break down and go see the optometrist for contacts . I set up an appt at the Flamingo branch four days in advance, and even faxed over the new patient form ahead of time ( I hate waiting).. I was very impressed with how clean the office was. I waited no longer then 15 minutes before Shay (the Drs. Assistant) had called me to proceed with my exam..
She was so nice and very informative with every step of the way. The complete exam lasted for about an hour and a half. She taught me how to put the the contacts in and the proper cleaning care. Here is were it went a little down hill. I was told that not only did i have to comeback and be trained for proper contact care. But, I couldnt even take home the trials. Huh ?What?!, I will be 32 in a few days not 16.. And, What was the whole prep that you showed me for? I get the whole "liability" thing. But, my suggestion is do the training same day. Instead of making the patient go home without.
After the exam they advise to be that my insurance doesnt cover a "fitting". So on top of my co pay of 20 I had to pay an additional 52 dollars.
