| - I went to this salon before my wedding to get highlights - big mistake. The stylist was very kind and easy to talk to, but she never asked me if the highlights were what I wanted. I brought in a picture (of Lauren Conrad with very beachy/natural highlights), and told her that I wanted something like that - or at least something that looked very natural (it was my wedding after all). What I got was a chunk of bleached hair in the front starting almost at the roots, but not quite. The highlights were the exact opposite of everything that I asked for - looking very unnatural and lighter at the top instead of the bottom. As she blew dry my hair she just kept saying how wonderful they looked and never gave me the opportunity to address my concerns. I don't feel comfortable telling someone that I don't like something they did unless they ask something along the lines of "Is this what you were thinking?" I've just never had my hair done before when someone didn't ask my opinion, and this was for my wedding, which she knew, as we talked about it several times. Long story short, we were leaving for the beach the next day (the wedding was in NC), so I went home and called studios to see if anyone could fit me in to address the issue - which of course being a Saturday, they couldn't. I ended up getting recommendations for someone at the beach - she helped me so much (after a weekend of tears and pulling my hair back and contemplating just dying it one color). She also validated my concerns. I know that hairdressers critique each other's work frequently, but when she asked me when I had them done (3 days prior) and said that it looked like they were done 6 weeks ago, I knew that I wasn't making up this issue (many, many parts - including highlights next to my face - had what looked like 1/2 inch roots). I'm just frustrated that I paid so much money to have something done that I disliked so much without ever being asked if I was happy with the end-result and then had to pay more money to correct the issue. I also felt like not only was I displeased, but the work was not well done or up to any standard. I definitely learned my lesson on going to someone I don't know before a big event.
Also, after trying to contact the salon to voice my concerns, they never responded to me.
