| - We had an excellent experience at the InterContinental Toronto Centre. When we arrived at 2:30 for a 3pm check-in, the room wasn't ready. We were told it would be ready by 3. Around 3:05, I went to get the room and it still wasn't ready, so the hotel upgraded me and the other party we were traveling with to the club level (both of us were upgraded so we could be on the same floor).
Club level comes with breakfast, afternoon tea, and nightly hors d'ouevres -- which definitely will save you some cash while on vacation. It also included wi-fi, which was great (otherwise, you have to pay for it), but the connection was a bit slow sometimes, and my husband couldn't get his laptop to connect to the network. We never contacted anyone about the issue though, so no idea if it was a quick fix or a systemic problem.
The location of the hotel is great. We walked everywhere, but it is also near the metro transit system if you opt to use public transit. It was an easy walk to get to Kensington Market, Chinatown, the Distillery District (long walk, but flat!), CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and the Harbourfront. Definitely a prime spot if you're looking to explore the city!
Parking was expensive, but you are in the heart of downtown Toronto in the entertainment district, so expected. Valet was quick and prompt, as were the very attentive and helpful bell hops (we were talking about seeing Canada Day fireworks and the bell hop got the exact start time from the concierge for us on the way to our room).
The restaurant and bar downstairs are also expensive -- highly recommend going to some of the more local dives around where you'll get better pricing, instead of patronizing the hotel bar.
The lobby is under construction so the escalators aren't working.
Great amenities in the room -- good smelling shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, lotion, nail files, q-tips, cotton balls, etc, etc. Room was clean and comfortable, and we had a view of the CN Tower and the Rogers Cenrte, which was lovely. The room was also quite large with a chair, table, desk, window seat, and two nightstands.
Overall, I would definitely return here, but I may consider parking at the convention centre in the future ($30 per day instead of $45 -- but the $45 with valet allows unlimited entry/exits, so weigh that before you commit to the convention centre's flat rate/charge for every entry and exit).
