| - The Aldi brands are just as tasty as the big brands, and cheaper...way cheaper. Good cereal, sauce, chocolate, hummus, bagels, bread, cheese, crackers (but stay away from the Rosemary and Olive Oil ones...ew), salsa, chips (of all varieties--including pita chips!), etc. Frozen food is kind of "meh" but I guess so is most cheap frozen food (I'm talking frozen pizzas and burritos here). The frozen vegetables are good, though.
I haven't bought many "fresh" foods here (fruits, vegetables), but the package of romaine lettuce I bought was fresh and crispy so I might start shopping for produce here too.
And I just have to put a plug here for their hummus...it's my #1 snack food. But I've realized that it's woefully expensive at regular grocery stores like Schnucks (as are many other types of food...apparently the northeast spoiled me?) Thankfully Aldi has 3 varieties of hummus--garlic, tahini, and roasted red pepper--and they are all gloriously delicious.
Aside from getting a cart with a maddeningly squeaky wheel one time, I've yet to have a bad experience at Aldi. The food is inexpensive, it's a no-frills store, and check-out is a breeze.
Thank you, Aldi, for selling cheap delicious groceries.
