  • I was very motivated to start working out. So I decided to join Extreme Fintess just by my house. I was getting a bunch of flyers every week and decided to check it out. I printed off the internet a 2 months free trial at the gym. As I went there, I had to register my coupon and I was forced to sign up for a membership in order to use it. Ok, I was interested and got 20% for living close by. The guys that helped me weren't very nice. You could see the only thing they wanted was to SELL and make their commission, but well, that's normal. After a few days, I had a fitness test, those you have to get it done to see your goals, your initial weight, progress, issues etc. I had to answer a questionnaire about a lot of stuff. I wrote the areas of my body I wanted to improve, I said I usually have back pains and what else I was looking for. The physician that was supposed to get my test done, read it all and explained me some normal stuff. After 3 exercises (plank, wall chair and push ups) she said I didn't know anything about exercising as I wasnt doing correctly. I showed her how I do squats, she said I'm doing it wrong so I shouldn't do it all (instead of teaching me the right way) So we went on a scale to see my body fat. I told her my height and age. I was surprised that I had lost 10lb as I was on a diet for 3 weeks. I was happy, feeling great and even more motivated. The scale printed off a paper but I didn't see what was on it. So the physician told me I had 28% of body fat, and that was very high. That I needed to go down to 19%. (ps, I'm not fat at all, I got love handles and a lil belly but I'm far from obese) She didn't talk about my pain, and the areas that I wanted to concentrate more. After writing my physical scoring, she started to say that I needed a personal trainer so I could achieve my goals and get the right orientation. We went to talk to one of them, and she told him "She definitely needs help". (That made me feel like I had mental issues or something). He told me the prices of a personal trainer and my jaw dropped. It was about 3 times more than what I was already paying monthly for my membership. I told them I had no conditions, they insisted but I said no way. I walked out very disappointed and sad, worse than when I walked in. I talked about it with some friends, and they explained me about their commissions and how they do that. I decided to go online and see how my body fat was calculated, and SURPRISINGLY it came out as 23%. Which is average for normal. Under 19% is considered underweight. and more than 27% is overweight. I was SO DISAPPOINTED and angry. They basically LIED saying I'm more fat so I would sign up with a personal trainer and they get more $. They fooled me! You go to a gym to feel great and that happens to you. Extreme fitness itself is great, 4 stories with a lot of machines and different rooms, but don't expect anything from staff and be aware of that situations that I went through.
