| - I really hate to play favorites... but I just can't help myself.
This has to be my new favorite local biz in C-Town. I mean, I'm pretty sure I've already tried to talk them into letting me stay in their shop to hang out and work...
Let's start from the beginning: My boyfriend got his antique cruiser bicycle stolen from him mere weeks before his birthday--the one he totally loved. How unfair, right?
Well, Joy Machines had just opened up on W25th, and ironically enough, my beau had stopped up here to buy a bike lock and 15 minutes later his bike was taken. He didn't put the new lock on. *sad face*
So, I emailed Joy Machines, told them the story and asked them if they could help me find him another antique one, but a road bike for his birthday surprise. They told me to stop by and the next day I was there. They listened to what I wanted, walked me through their inventory, then looked up bikes for me that were on sale. They went above and beyond to find the perfect bike for my guy. I mean, they even remembered how tall he was, so we'd get the right size!
Alex and Renato ended up emailing me a listing from Craig's List of an amazing French, antique bike. I picked it up knowing they thought it was a great deal, dropped it off with them, and they worked their tune-up magic.
It was done within 3 days, perfect and an amazing surprise for my very excited boyfriend. They didn't fix things that we had talked about because they knew they didn't need it--a truly honest business. My man is in love with this bike and all that Joy Machines put into it. I ended up buying an antique, womens road bike from their inventory for myself as well and I couldn't be happier.
Any and every bicycle need I have, I'm coming here from now on. I recommend you do the same.
