  • I was referred here by a friend when I moved from out-of-state 6 months ago. I was able to get in for a cut and color easily with Jessica Leigh. Pricing is done by level of stylist, and I did not have a preference for level. To be honest, I do not mind the so-called "lower levels' because my hair is not that difficult to cut, and I only do all-over color. Jessica Leigh is technically a Level 2 (out of 4 levels then master level), but honestly, she is amazing. I am so glad I found someone who truly listens to me and really seeks to give me the total salon experience. Every experience with her has been wonderful. Salon - trendy location in Shadyside just above Starbucks and Eva Szabo. Very clean, large windows in the salon area. Seems like plenty of parking available; I walk from my house so I can not really comment, particularly during busy times. Front desk staff - the last time I went, I was very pleased (courteous, helpful). Every other time, they have seemed put-off or a little annoyed by helping me check out and scheduling future appointments. Honestly, this seems to be a trend with higher-end salons in my opinion: the receptionists (usually young females) act very uppity/snooty. It reminds me a little of "those girls" in high schools (you know what I mean). They say the right things, but the attitude is there. Eh, whatever, I don't spend my money in this salon for the front desk, right? Tipping - cash only, but conveniently there is a PNC just below the salon. On Saturdays, the salon is really busy so often my shampoo and blow-out is done by one of the people in training (apprentices, or something like that?). Tip them separately. The salon has late hours, though, so that is great for me since I work until 6 PM or so. My last appointment (cut and color) was for 6:30 PM on a Thursday. The only reason I did not rate this a 5/5 is because once I had to get a color on a weekend when my usual stylist was not working. They put me with someone else, no problem, but she was a few levels above, so my bill was actually quite a bit more expensive for literally the same service, and maybe it was my fault for not specifying? Plus, she was a little rude and tried to upsell me on a different color and products; I do all-over color, nothing crazy with highlights/lowlights/etc, and she was going on about the different techniques she has expertise. If Jessica Leigh was not so awesome, I likely would have left this salon for Damien's (also in Shadyside; my husband goes there). Needless to say, I have my next two appointments already booked with Jessica! Oh yeah, the two bulldogs are a mainstay in the salon. So cute!
