We made reservations to stay in a handicapped room at this hotel way in advance of our August trip and had a confirmation in hand when we checked in. They had given away our handicapped bathroom accommodations to someone else and instead, offered us a room with a bathtub that my husband could not safely use. It took hours and hours of calling all over Pittsburgh and to Marriott Corporate to get us moved to another Marriott property, the new Residence Inn on Forbes St. in Oakland. That is a more expensive hotel, so we had to fight for a comparable rate. In addition, the Homestead property seems neglected and run-down. The air conditioning in the lobby was either not working or turned off. And the room they did show us had a big hole in the carpet. We were unable to stay with our extended family group for the weekend and were miles away in Oakland. The management was not well-trained and not at all friendly or anxious to help us make things right. A big disappointment for a Marriott property.
