I offered to help out at the recent Yelp volunteer event here. This place is fantastic. Everything from the size and capability of the facility to the staff and volunteers who are so passionate about what they do. I highly recommend anyone interested in adopting a new dog or cat into their family to consider coming here first.
Though I was the only guy in the group, it didn't stop me from getting my hands dirty in the flower beds. Our job for the day was to plant some fresh crops (cabbage, cilantro, etc). Some people were tasked with finishing a rock path and also cleaning up/reinforcing the general area. We finished quickly to have more time hanging out with all the pups and kittens.
I was really impressed with the AZ Humane Society and their careful attention to providing an amazing (temporary) home for all the animals there. They also help new owners take care of vaccinations and offer toys through the onsite store. As Bob Barker says, "remember to have your pets spayed or neutered!" The AZHS makes it easy and affordable to do that too!
