A non-Asian acquaintance had recommended the Udon in this place as he onced lived in Japan. I said, "What the heck! I'l give it one more try." Well I ordered the Republic Udon with added Beef Slices.
On my first sip, I nearly choked coughing. What the heck? It seems they tried to resolve the flavor problems of the soup in the past by adding tons of salt. There was no extra flavor just extremely salty. The beef slices were decent. I tried to tough it up and once again sip the soup .. but to no avail. My body was complaining violently.
I asked the cashier if they had a lighter broth but she said that all the soup bases were the same and that they could give me vinegar to lighten the taste. This is not a solution so I asked for a refund, of which she gladly did without complaints and apologized that I didn't like it.
The two stars are for the good customer service. Tons of non-Asian college age people eating here. I guess they like it. To each their own.
I went and bought a bag of Nongshim noodles at the Oriental Market. Way better for under 2.00. :)
