| - I've been wanting to try this place for a long time so I'm super thankful I got to be part of this YEE. As always, huge thanks to Kris & crew for organizing this unique experience!
I can't get enough of that Dongpo Pork! It was the first thing I ate, and it sure made an impression for me for the rest of the meal. It was so well-made; I went to home to explain to my fam that it was like pork "jewel". Everything about it was superb - the side veggies, the sauce, and of course the hero of the dish, glistening at the very centre, the pork belly. I would actually come here just for the Dongpo Pork!
Other dishes I thought deserved special mentions were: pea sprouts, BBQ pork on grill, and the fried chicken with the salted egg yolk batter (which I thought was new for the Markham area). Tbh everything else for me was mehhh, including the encore, the Breaded Temptation.. which was very disappointing!
Dessert: for $11.99, I think they can do better than to serve 2 ingredients, bread and condensed milk (scant amounts). Oh, ice cream too, but see I didn't get any :( If compared to Petit Potato, I'd rather wait an hour there for a toast dessert with more extravagant toppings.
With all this being said, I really enjoyed this event. An intimate setting is nice for a change. I'm a shy person, so this brought out more enjoyment for me than being in a large group where loud people dominate. After trying this restaurant, I now have a better understanding of their menu - that it's not a desserts place serving all things made of green tea stuff lol - but a Chinese restaurant suitable for dinner fam jam style. Menu's a bit on the pricey side; I won't be dining here alone or on a date. But for a large gathering, I am definitely suggesting this place for my next fam jam occasion.
