I really loved Tops and was excited that they ventured into the bar biz with Taste of Tops. While this place is definitely warm, inviting, and definitely a needed establishment amongst the crummy places on adjacent Mill Ave., my handful of experiences here were just, as Yelp would say, A-OK. Their rotating beer selections are pretty good-- accessible craft beers along the lines of Sierra Nevada, Stone, and the like. However, I find that their taps have a lot of "safe" beers and for adventurous drinkers, I suggest a trip to Papago Brewing- or my local fave, Phoenix's Lost Leaf (which has them beat on atmosphere, too). I would have given them 4 stars, but a couple of the gals behind the counter have had trouble describing the beers to me in the past. I really appreciate what Taste of Tops is trying to do, and I'm glad they're around. They're just not so much for me...more for the Tempe/ASU crowd getting into craft beer.
