Great addition to the Distillery District. This newly opened cafe is probably going to give Balzac's some stiff competition, however I think they will be able to co-exist as they are different enough. While Balzac's is more cozy, Caffe Furbo has a clean, minimalist aesthetic with great modern art on the walls. The biggest difference is probably that CF is licensed and has a wine list.
I came here on a weekday and it was really quiet. Other than me, just a couple people that looked like there were on a business meeting. I had a nice latte and read a book. There are cute little coffee tables, but this is not the place to come to do work (tables are too low to comfortably write/type on them). More of a hanging out place.
The owner (an artist himself) was really nice. The vibe is relaxed with some chill music playing but not too loud. They had some tempting sweets on display (scones, chocolate croissants, tarts, biscotti) but I didn't indulge this time. They also have orangina and other cold drinks. Wine is available by the glass or the bottle.
I'm sure this place will do well!
