| - This was actually our first stop in Pittsburgh, so I guess I should have reviewed this first! Oops!
My friend tells me that Hofbrauhaus is ALWAYS a staple for him to take his out-of-town visitors. The first things that you'll notice even before you enter the building are the beer silos. Yup, they brew their own beers, which makes it cheap for you and me! The next thing you'll notice are.. the bewbs. The ladies who work here don't wear a complete skimpy outfit like they do at Hooters or Tilted Kilt, etc. but they do show off their top heavy bosoms. Very nice. ;)
We came around 8 and my friend immediately requested that we sat inside when we were asked. Why? Wait till around 9PM and you'll see. Okay, impatient? I'll tell yinz (yes, I did pick up on some of their slang)! Around 9 or maybe 9:30, the Haus Band comes on and plays every type of song under the sun, ranging from The Lion sleeps Tonight to Call Me Maybe. Surprisingly, there was a good bit of country music thrown in the mix. Everything was well received by the audience, who seemed to know every word of every song they played. When you throw together people who know how to have a good time, plus a flow of cheap beer, plus a very good band who knows how to play just about every song you can think of and seems to get better the more they drink, what do you get? Everyone dancing their butts off on top of their benches. It is quite a site to see and an experience you must have in life. My friend did give us a disclaimer that if we wanted to talk about anything that evening, to get it out right away because we won't get an opportunity to later. He was right! Lol.
As if all of that wasn't entertaining enough, there's this REALLY old guy who makes an appearance almost every night. He comes out a little bit after the band does and dances with every pretty lady in the building. Some of his risque moves though.. yeah, he gets away with it because he's an old guy haha. Let me tell ya, he's a hoot and a half! I've got some interesting photos and videos to prove it.
So, aside from the bustling festivities, I thought the food was just okay but the beau and friends all loved what they got. Definitely opt for their in-house brewed beers and pay a little extra to keep a [brand new, never used] souvenir pint glass to take home.
We were stuffed and tired from all the singing and dancing, but my friend took us outside behind the pub and showed us the beer garden, which was very peaceful and romantic (surprisingly). It has a fantastic view of the river and looks even more amazing with the reflection of the city lights bouncing off from it. If you're wanting to grab some authentic German grub, but are not in the mood to burn off all those calories just yet, opt to sit outside.
