This place was a let down. We drove a long ways to see Rhyolite and really only spent a small time there because it was just a sad place.Being such a historical landmark you would think that they would make better attempts to actually preserve this place.
As it sits now, it's just a sad graveyard of buildings returning back to the ground. If they don't make an attempt to preserve what is there, Rhyolite will soon be gone.
Also, there is absolutely no information whatsoever on the buildings. There should be placards on each building with what it was, the history, and maybe even a photo of the building in operation.
Going from building to building is a bit dangerous. You literally have to walk int he roads because walking inside the perimeters you may be bit by a rattle snake, cut with some rusty piece of metal, or fall into a mine!
All in all, it was an interesting place and I enjoyed it to an extent but couldn't help but feel sick that they are allowing this special place to deteriorate.
