| - Lesson learned (once again): it really pays to be friends with Natalie G.
You wouldn't normally find me hanging out around Old Town on a Saturday night. Not unless I'm there for my favorite sport: people-watching. However, my fabulous friend Natalie had recently won a free hour of a karaoke in one of Geisha's private rooms. Free karaoke? Don't mind if I do!
It's no secret, I love karaoke. In fact, I am slightly obsessed and a place like this really gives me the opportunity to sing my heart out without having to share the mic (much). Just like any other karaoke joint, you get two books full of song choices, two microphones, and your own server. There's even a little switch to flip in case you need your server to come check on you. Unfortunately, our server was like a freaking model or something. AND she was really nice. Couldn't they give us someone a little uglier to make me feel better about myself???
Anyway, we had a great time here. We gave Celine Dion, Spice Girls, and Bonnie Tyler a run for their money. However, that being said, I don't think I would be willing to actually pay the $75 per hour fee to rent one of the rooms. The rooms are super outdated and a little gross. Yes, that is probably true to traditional Japanese karaoke, but the price is just too steep.
Thanks for another free night of fun, Natalie! (And yes, I mean that in all kinds of inappropriate ways...)
