| - I came her yesterday (second day open) to check this place out and see the new store which they're calling "Food's Greatest Stage".
The place is a zoo. I'm not sure at this point if you'd want to do any actual grocery shopping. Everyone is just there to gawk and is so wide-eyed an bewildered that's its difficult to navigate the store.
As others have said, there is a wall of cheese, huge bakery, tea emporium, blah blah blah etc. I'm over it. There isn't anything new here in terms of a grocery store, except that the concept is new in Toronto. You want sushi fresh made in store? Safeway has been doing it for years. You want a meal made in front of you? Almost everyone has been doing this for a long time, it's just that this store is so huge, they can have a bigger menu.
Don't get me wrong, LCL did a great job here. It's just that all they've really done is dropped trow and shoved it in everybody's face that they're the biggest player in Canada. We get it, you have a 60% share of the market.
What would have impressed me is if they were actually innovative when they built this store. Underneath the new paint, flash, and sparkles is just your regular Loblaws.
