| - I've been to Nan and Byron's for lunch twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. My favorite part of Nan's is the décor. I would describe it as modern farmhouse chic as they incorporate natural wood, cowhide rugs, metal chairs, and rustic embellished walls. The back dining room has a garage-style door that opens up to a patio. Really love everything about venue.
The food features a twist on traditional southern comfort food with dishes like meatloaf, farmhouse burger, mac n' cheese, deviled eggs, shepherd's pie, and more. Nan's offered a brunch buffet every Sunday for $21 with a la carte options as well.
I've had the Southend chicken hoagie ($10) and crispy beet burger ($8.5), both off the lunch menu. The hoagie featured marinated chicken breast, sautéed peppers and onions, lettuce, tomato, American cheese, and spicy green sauce. It was a disastrous mess to try and eat gracefully but was a delicious combination of flavors. Note: I substituted the American cheese with poblano cheese...Yum!
The crispy beet burger was my favorite of the two and came served with boursin cheese, arugula, red onions and avocado. The crunch of the beet paired perfectly with the creamier textures of boursin cheese and avocado. Can't say I've ever had anything like this sandwich and it was delicious (plus light enough to return to work without napping!)
I also had a bite of the Farmhouse burger and was impressed with flavor and texture of the patty but was looking for a little more of the barbeque sauce that was supposed to be on the sandwich.
Both times service was helpful and attentive, especially after we noticed a pricing error on one of our ordered items. Would definitely return to Nan and Byron's and am hoping to sample brunch and dinner menu items soon.
