| - i heard about Avalon from some friends, and once stopped in quick when they first opened. i didn't have much time, was in and out in 10 minutes with a big pony hair clutch for $26, which i thought to be a steal. a few months later, i began selling, dropping in with whatever i thought they might be able to use and hoping they're into it. this store has totally blossomed into something amazing since i first set foot in the door almost 3 years ago. they buy current, trendy and one-of-a-kind items with a bit of vintage mixed in and they pay 30% cash of their retail price, or 45% in a credit that you can use in either store! since they opened their Lakewood location in January i have been back-and-forth selling and buying, sometimes taking cash and sometimes taking credit to bring home something special. i always find cute dresses, great sunglasses, pretty jewelry and shoes for every occasion. and i mean EVERY occasion... if you're a sneakerhead, this is heaven for you. some of my best denim is from Avalon, too, and i think jeans are one of the hardest things to shop for! the staff is always greeting you when you walk in, and they're overly friendly and pretty accommodating in my experience so maybe there's been a few off days... also, i can't help but compliment their taste in music! i've noticed the mixed reviews -- i understand it can be a bummer when they pass on your stuff but they can't buy everything... and i missed the memo about seasonal buying the first few times, too. definitely all over the place in their taste but that seems to be what's trending right now. it seems like you could be just about any age to shop there, so you could literally go in with your parents, grandparents, and teenage siblings and leave with something for everyone. sure, sometimes it's hit or miss but you never know who's bringing in what and when since they buy every day i don't live quite near either store but i always go out of my way to visit Avalon as they have become a little bit of an addiction! go in for laughs and leave with tons of $ left in your wallet, you'll find great stuff for a fraction of the retail and probably find yourself at the mall less and less once you get hooked!
